AMAZING
1st BROOK BURGER
Shadowbrook Restaurant, Capitola
Apologies for the bad shot - the light was too dim. The Restaurant is an institution in the area and labels itself "the romantic restaurant. We met friends in the bar and yelled at them for two hours as a relentless old guy was playing classics and singing with an Elvis voice. The burger is a real treat! Toasted Gayle's sesame bun, house ground angus and cheese . Lovely
REALLY GOOD
2nd COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT
Gaststätte Brückenwirt, Pullach im Isartal
This 'mini burger' (same size as a regular burger just not the head-sized maxi-burger they also have on the menu) was named the Minnie Mouse - Disney should get all over their butts for this one. ;*) Handmade instead of frozen, but still very average. The sauce was a sweet and spicey BBQ that just didn't quite hit the mark. Would not order again...
3rd HAMBURGER
Sly McFly's, Monterey
Mr. C found his burger totally run of the mill, bland and unexciting. "Extremely unsatisfying" were his exact words. Shame.
4th MINI CHEESEBURGER
Burger House 2 - Max-Weber-Platz, München
This little cutie was just the right size to go with an even bigger plate of fresh cut and batter-dipped onion rings. A nicely seared organic regional beef patty with all the trimmings and fresh baked bun. Only about 5 bites worth, but they are damn good bites.
5th NO CARB BURGER
Burger House 2 - Max-Weber-Platz, München
Pure craziness, but Mr. C had to try the 'no carb' option. A lovely regional organic beef patty with sautéed eggplant, zucchini and button mushrooms - served with herby mayo dressing and fresh baby leaf salad. All that you want in a burger, except for some silly breading. Mr. C would rather have his carbs in golden liquid form.
6th CHEESEBURGER
Hamburgerei EINS, München
Here's the classic offering - but with added bacon and cheese (at .40 each) the cost came up to 8.60 for a burger that I had to order and pick up myself at a counter. Don't treat me like McD's and expect me to pay hip eatery prices. :*(
7th DER HAMBURGER
Hamburgerei EINS, München
Homemade vegan spelt flour roll and a classic burger combination served with sautéed onions, mustard relish and 200 Gram patty of fresh-ground locally sourced Bavarian beef. DELISH. But not as good as Burger Haus and definitely loses points due to being a 'self serve' restaurant. Bring me my damn burger, please! ;*)
8th CHEESEBURGER
Burger House 2 - Max-Weber-Platz, München
A real treat here in Germany... a sumptuous version of the all time American favorite. Mrs. C was pleasantly surprised by the perfect broiled flavor and tender juiciness. Oh we'll be back... and soon....
9th FEDERAL BURGER
Federal House, Annapolis
Half a pound of angus (here is that magic word again, @Mr Coronaburg:-)) to order (medium) with Swiss. Luuuverly - cuz you can't live on crab alone :-)))
10th MOSES HELL-FIRE BBQ BURGER
White Trash Fast Food, Berlin
Beef and tomato home made BBQ sauce, and a heap o' hot Jalapeños. Oh boy it looks like a train wreck but it sure is a great burger! Juicy spicy tasty!
11th CHEESEBURGER
Lindners Hotels & Restaurants, Bad Aibling
a staple in Mr. and Mrs. Carstians dining out experience. not cheap (18 yoyo) but oh boy... organic patty, beautiful cheese, whole wheat bun, the best fries you can imagine. worth it every now and then. and the chef survived as he finally didn't undercook Mrs. Carstian's burger (not red - a little blush pls).
JUST OK
12th CHEESEBURGER SLIDER
Old Bank Hotel, Oxford
Litte C had the brilliant idea to eat dinner in... but sadly chose the wrong dinner item from the room service menu. This burger, while adorable and the perfect size for a small hunger, was dry and of questionable meat quality. Mrs. C has vowed (after this trip) to no longer order burgers in the U.K. Sorry folks, but you really just don't seem to know what you're doing there! With a ratio of 1 out of 5 being classified as 'ok' - the numbers say stick with the U.S. where you'll get at least a 50% good burger ratio, if not higher. The view was still nice, though!
NOT FOR ME
13th HEUMILCHKÄSE BURGER
Hans im Glück, München
First the positives - choice of bun (this is the classic, sourdough) with an artisan cheese from a lovely place in Salzburg. The negatives - THE MEAT. These are tasteless, flat, pressed patties of dryness. Very disappointed. Won't be coming back.
13th HEUMILCHKÄSE BURGER
Hans im Glück, München
This one is just to show you the whole grain bun - which was really good. But it couldn't elevate the rest of this sad burger... how sad? just scroll down my friends...
