I wasn’t convinced initially these gelatinous leaf-like things were actually a type of fungus, but it turns out they are! I had thought that perhaps they were a type of aquatic plant (like seaweed) but what’s being consumed here are the fruiting bodies of the fungus and the mycelium exist within them in a dense gelatinous matrix. The dork in me now says, “whoa…” 😲
