First things first, the Michelin Guide belongs to the original Kwan Kee Store in Hong Kong. When the owner closed the business he passed the store (and the awards by the looks of it) and his recipes to his apprentice who opened up a store in Malaysia. Make of that what you will.
Having said that, we really enjoyed the Chinese pastries made here. Lots of negative Google reviews, with some comparing the pastries here to ones that you get from a street market. To me, there is a big difference. Especially in the texture. No “kuih” I buy from the market has that same boing-boing texture that Kwan Kee has. Try it at least once, and then go back to the cheaper versions from the market. One is not better than the other, they’re just different.
